Usage Notes

Browser: For best results, please use an IE 9+ or Chrome browser.

Search: Click on the Search tool, as shown below…
Search Image
and enter text such as zip code, city and state, or address to automatically zoom to a location of interest.

Disaster Event Appearance: Change the ‘opacity’ of the events displayed on the map using the slider control, as shown below…

Moving the slider to the right makes the color more vibrant. Moving the slider to the left makes the color more transparent.

Map Navigation Tips

Zoom in: Click the plus symbol Zoom In Image or hold down the shift key and drag a box on the screen around the area of interest.

Zoom out: Click the minus symbol Zoom Out Image or hold down the control and shift keys then drag a box on the screen (big box zooms out a little, small box zooms out a lot).

Pan: Click and hold the left mouse button on the map then move the mouse to shift the map up, down, left, or right.

Event Data Sources

FEMA: FEMA events based on presidential and individual assistance disaster declarations provided by the FEMA Disaster Declaration site

Hurricanes: Hurricane paths based on National Hurricane Center wind histories of tropical storm force or greater winds associated with a storm

Fires: Fires perimeters updated from the Geospatial Multi-Agency Coordination Group (GeoMAC)

Earthquakes: Earthquake data provided by the US Geological Survey Earthquake Hazards Program

Nuclear Warnings: The National Weather Service provides nuclear power plant and radiological hazard warnings

Hurricanes Warnings: Hurricane warnings based on National Hurricane Center five-day forecast cone

Other Event: Events deemed pertinent that have been manually added by Safeguard Properties
